For the past few years, I’ve participated in a movement where, instead of creating new year resolutions, we pick a word to focus on for the year. The first year, my word was confidence and last year, it was connection. This year, my word is strengthen.
Strengthen those connections and relationships I made last year as well as my writing, readership, health, and wealth. Hopefully I can do some of that by attending more events like the local author book fair I participated in last month at the Moline Public Library.
Part of it will also be to have strength in the changes coming my way this year.
In May, my daughter will graduate from high school, and in August, she will start college. My son will be finishing middle school and entering high school in August as a dual enrollment student. My husband’s company has merged with another so there will be some changes there, though we don’t know what. I have a new company, 918studio press, a selective subsidized publishing company for good writing that deserves to be read, through which my business partner and I plan to release two or three titles.
Strength and change, those will be my focus and reality words for 2016. Do you have a word or two that you want to focus on in 2016? Or that you predict will be the theme of the year? Feel free to share in the comments section below.
